Debt does require sacrifice. However, there are 2 things that you should never sacrifice: Relationships and Generosity.
Most people who overspend their income in one of three ways:
- Too much house.
- Too much car.
- Too much entertainment.
A simple life is more than just owning less. It’s about having time and energy for the people that matter.
Sadly, many people will participate in this insanity called “Black Friday” because they prefer to display their love for people by purchasing material items.
COAD: Our credit card statements are unintentional personal manifestos. These statements lay out how we spend our money and our time. How we spend our money says something about us and about our values.
While you don’t have 100% control over how much you get paid, you are completely in charge of how much of that money you save.
Basically, you figure out your true hourly wage and think of purchases in terms of how many hours you have to work to make a purchase. This is great way to get your spending to align with your priorities and values.
Christmas happens on the same day every year. It does not sneak up on you. Lack of planning is not an excuse to over spend on Christmas gifts.
Thinking is relatively valueless unless it leads to doing. You can daydream about your financial goals all you want, but until you start working on them, they won’t come true..
